A granulator is a high speed knife mill designed to cut down large components of feed stock and reduce them to a smaller particle size. Selecting the right scissor geometry and configuration allows granulators to process plastic bottles, organic fibers, films, wires, cables and other difficult materials. Agglomeration granulators combine fine particles into larger granules by creating bonds between them. Bonds are formed by compressing fine particles or through the use of a binding agent. Granulation is used extensively in the pharmaceutical industry to prevent segregation of the constituents of a powder mix.
