Milling is the process of breaking down solid materials into smaller pieces. There are a variety of mill types available depending on the desired end result. Mills can use variations of cutting, grinding, or crushing, and may combine several operations to achieve the end result.

In chemical processing, there are a wide range of production requirements for milling machines, ranging from high pressure rolling mills to crush course materials down before further processing, to ultrafine mills that can produce particle sizes of as little as 0.5µm.

Technology for milling in the chemical industry

Vekamaf can advise on a wide range of milling equipment across a broad range of industries and for a large range of unit applications. For primary milling our range of roller mills and ball mills can take primary media to a state where it can be ready for further processing. Utilising the latest energy efficient technologies means our range of mills can decrease operating costs as well as increasing quality.

For the most difficult materials to work with, we can advise on the latest shredding and granulating technology. For extreme media, our torsion-resistant shredder can handle the most difficult products, even those containing fibre or film, without clogging or blockage.

For crushing of materials Vekamaf can help with a range of high and low impact milling solutions. Hammer mills can effectively gradually reduce media down to required sizes, but for fragile compounds we have a range of gentle crushers and flakers, meaning we can assist with any milling challenge.

For laboratory work and ultrafine milling, we can advise on a complete range of mills of a suitable scale for R&D and testing work. Ultrafine milling equipment includes speciality pin mills and spiral jet mills for a range of specific applications.
